Mishap averted: Smoke billowed from N Chandrababu Naidu's bus in chittoor

Tirupati: Tension prevailed for a while in Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s convoy after smoke billowed out of the engine of the bus in which he was travelling on Friday.

Mr Naidu was travelling in the bus from the Renigunta airport to Tirupati to inaugurate a new block of the TTD-run Balaji Institute of Surgery, Research and Rehabilitation for the Disabled.

The driver stopped the bus after security staff alerted him about the smoke. Following this, Mr Naidu went to Tirupati by a car. Senior officials, meanwhile, took a serious view of the incident, treating it as a serious lapse on the part of those responsible for inspecting the vehicle. According to sources in police, higher authorities are probing the incident.
