Congress plans mega fishermen's rally

KPCC president, Dr G. Parameshwar said the party wants to bring fishermen back to its fold.

Bengaluru: With an eye on the Assembly elections next year, the Congress party is planning to organise a massive fishermen’s rally either in Kumta or Mangaluru which will be addressed by party vice-president Rahul Gandhi.

Speaking to reporters here on Monday, KPCC president, Dr G. Parameshwar said the party wants to bring fishermen back to its fold and will organise an executive committee meeting of fishermen leaders of the party soon to chalk out strategies to organise the massive rally. “Fishermen were once our vote bank, over a period of time, they have sided with RSS, hence, we need to bring them back to the party,” Dr Parameshwar said.
