Kiran Bedi hasn't initiated steps for development of Pondy: CM

The government will hold talks with private college managements next week on how to tackle the situation, he added.

Puducherry: Giving clear indications of the continuing power struggle between the elected government under Chief Minister V. Narayanasamy and Lt Governor Kiran Bedi again, the former on Saturday alleged that Ms Bedi did nothing for the development of Puducherry.

“The Lt Governor did not initiate any steps for the development of Puducherry but instead engaged in criticizing the government in each and every matter,” he said.
Charging the Lt Governor with interfering in the administration matters including the functioning of the Chief Minister, he alleged that Ms Bedi is blocking various developmental schemes of the Union Territory and is not ready to function in tandem with the government.

His comment comes a day after Bedi raised criticism against the government on the action of Medical Council of India (MCI) discharging 778 students who were admitted to MBBS courses in seven private medical colleges and deemed universities in the Union Territory under management quota. She said the government should shoulder the responsibility of the current crisis along with the private college managements.

Calling it as a 'clear case of irresponsible statement ' the Chief Minister said the Lt Governor is criticizing the government and officials without knowing the ground reality. The government will hold talks with private college managements next week on how to tackle the situation, he added.

He also said that he has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on the “violation of powers” by Ms Bedi and her attitude of criticising the elected government and officers on each and every
matter. Mr Narayanasamy also sought the intervention of Centre to control the petrol price hike.
