Party will take disciplinary action if workers found guilty: Kodiyeri Balakrishnan

He said what was needed in Kannur was political and administrative intervention.

Kozhikode: The CPM will not protect the assassins of RSS worker C Biju at Payyannur, CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan said here on Tuesday.

Addressing a press conference, Mr Balakrishnan said the party would initiate disciplinary action against the party workers involved in the murder. “I am not merely saying it. But it would be executed. The CPM would inquire at the local-level and take action”, he added. Mr Balakrishnan also urged the police to take action impartially. “Will the BJP be ready to disown the accused in criminal cases like this?” he asked.

He said what was needed in Kannur was political and administrative intervention. That is why the chief minister had called an all party meet, he added.

On the video footage uploaded by BJP state president Kummanam Rajasekharan, claiming that it was one of the celebrations following the killing of the RSS worker, he pointed out that it was fake. “This act was like pouring fuel to the fire,” he said adding that the move to impose the Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act in Kannur was a BJP attempt to destroy the CPM. “They are trying to pump in money and create tension in the state”, he added.

The murder of the RSS worker threw a spanner into the works of bringing peace to the trouble- torn district.
