BS Yeddyurappa bombshell' fails to blow up

Seeing the lukewarm attack on it, the Congress hit back against the BJP state chief on Twitter.

Bengaluru: It was a suspenseful wait, but state BJP chief B.S. Yeddyurappa failed to come out with any bombshell against the Siddaramaiah government through Twitter on Friday as he had promised to on Thursday.

While both the ruling Congress and BJP leaders waited curiously for Mr Yeddyurappa to come out with his promised sensational expose of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Twitter at 5 pm, Friday, with the Congress team even gearing up to counter him, all Mr Yeddyurappa did was come on Facebook live from his Vinobhanagara house in Shivamogga town and speak about the “failures and misdeeds” of the state government with graphics for about five minutes.

But it was a merely a rehash of his previous charges that the government had borrowed and passed on its debt to the people in the state, failed to deliver on all fronts and so on.

He then went on to promise that the BJP would provide better administration and fulfill the promises made to the people once it came to power.

Seeing the lukewarm attack on it, the Congress hit back against the BJP state chief on Twitter. Under Twitter hashtag '420 BJP', it said “Yeddyurappa ditched the BJP for sending him to jail.”

Sources in the BJP, however, said it was its Central leadership that had the stopped the Lingayat strongmen from making any major announcement against the Chief Minister on social media and instead asked him to wait for an appropriate time to take him on. It reportedly suggested that he should call a press conference if the matter was of a more serious nature to make a proper impact.
