BS Yeddyurappa to Siddaramaiah: Set your house in order first

Yeddyurappa retorted that there was no disunity within the BJP state unit after he took over as state president.

Bengaluru: Launching a blistering attack on the ruling Congress, BJP state president, B.S. Yeddyruappa on Sunday declared that the saffron party would secure no less than 150 seats in the 2018 Assembly polls.

Speaking to reporters here, Mr Yeddyurappa caustically remarked that there was no need for the BJP in the state to talk about the Congress party anymore, as he was confident that voters had made up their mind in 2016 itself to elect the BJP with an unprecedented majority.

"Do we (BJP leaders) need Chief Minister, Siddaramaiah's approval to get elected by the people? First let him set his house in order and then he can talk about us," he quipped reacting to Mr Siddaramaiah's recent outburst against him.

He added that the BJP will wrest power in the state from the Congress in 2018 not because of the ruling party's failures but because of the track record of Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the national level. In response to a question, Mr Yeddyurappa retorted that there was no disunity within the BJP state unit after he took over as state president.

"We are all united. In one voice, we will counter the Congress party's policies that go against public sentiments. I feel it was completely out of sync, when a section of the media reported that leaders like Mr Jagadish Shettar and Mr K.S. Eshwarappa did not attend the press meet convened by me," he said.
