Uma Madhava Reddy quits TDP ahead of joining TRS

Her son Sandeep Reddy also tendered his resignation from the party and as president of the Bhongir district unit.

Hyderabad: Former TD minister Uma Madhava Reddy, who will be joining the TRS on Thursday, formally renounced her primary membership of the Telugu Desam with which she associated for decades.

In a letter to TD president and AP Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, she said that after the formation of Telangana state, various developments taken place both within and outside the party. Due to “compelling circumstances, with deep anguish” she had decided to quit the party, she said.

Ms Madhava Reddy said after the demise of her husband Alimineti Madhava Reddy, it was Mr Naidu who helped her including giving her a number of posts both in the government and in the party. Her son Sandeep Reddy also tendered his resignation from the party and as president of the Bhongir district unit.
