Centre gives Telangana 41 IAS officers

A decision on allotting additional IPS officers is yet to be taken.

Hyderabad: The Centre has approved an additional 41 IAS officers for Telangana State. The state government received a communication to this effect on Friday.

The Department of Personnel and Training is expected to issue orders in a day or two. The present IAS cadre strength of TS is 167 and with the latest allocation, it would increase to 208.

Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao had recently met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi and sought an increase in IAS and IPS officers for TS on the ground that the state government is in the process of creating 15 new districts and it needs more officers to be appointed as collectors, joint collectors, SPs and ASPs. A decision on allotting additional IPS officers is yet to be taken.
