Telangana irrigation minister T Harish Rao breaks a superstition

He said Ms Mallavva had been an active TRS worker ever since Mr Chandrasekhar Rao launched the TRS.

Hyderabad: Irrigation minister T. Harish Rao on Saturday got work on the 2BHK housing scheme launched by a woman who had lost her husband. The usual practice is for a married woman (muttaiduva) to be invol-ved in the function.

In a departure from this practice, Mr Harish Rao invited Ms Kutchula Mallavva, a TRS activist and admirer of Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, to lay the foundation stone for the Rs 1.57-crore 2BHK project at Irkoda-Errannagutta in Siddipet district.

Mr Harish Rao said superstitions like inviting only married women to welcome guests and break the coconut at functions should end. “When the government is taking up good works with a good intention, such things should not come in the way,” Mr Harish Rao said and asked Ms Mallavva to break the coconut and lay the foundation stone.
