TRS eyes 2 TD MLAs, plans to wipe out TD

The TRS intends to achieve this by bringing in the two TD legislators into its fold.

Hyderabad: After wiping out the Telugu Desam in the Legislative Council, the TRS is now concentrating on repeating the feat in the Assembly.

The TRS intends to achieve this by bringing in the two TD legislators into its fold.

Senior TRS leaders are reportedly in touch with the two MLAs who may defect soon.

The Telugu Desam had contested from 13 Assembly constituencies in the recent elections and won two — Mr Mecha Nageswara Rao from Aswaraopet and Sandra Venkata Veeraiah from Sattupally, both in the erstwhile Khammam district.

The TRS effort has not surprised Telangana TD leaders.

TS TD president L. Ramana said, “Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao is known for luring legislators. I am not surprised about the TRS buying our MLAs.”

In 2014, the TD won 15 seats of whom 13 joined the TRS and the Congress.

Mr Veeraiah, who stayed with the party through the previous term, is now learnt to be planning to join the TRS.
