Munugode development gets TRS boost after my resignation: Komatireddy Rajgopal Reddy

HYDERABAD: The TRS government understands only the language of byelections, which is when it springs to life and takes up developmental works, said Komatireddy Rajgopal Reddy, who resigned from his Munugode Assembly seat the other day and necessitated a bypoll.

He said here on Friday that after he met Union home minister Amit Shah and declared his intention to join the BJP, officials had suddenly been galvanized into action and began calling up sarpanchs in the constituency and assuring them of release of funds for laying roads and other development works.

“When I was MLA, sarpanchs in Munugode were denied the `20 lakh special development fund. Officials would say that there was little they could do as I was from the Opposition. Suddenly there is a U-turn as regards release of funds,” Reddy said.

“In the three-and-a-half years I was the legislator, my repeated requests and reminders in the Assembly fell on deaf ears and the state government did nothing for Munugode. No sooner did I meet Shah, orders were issued on the long-pending demand to create Gattuppal mandal and an assurance that life insurance schemes would be implemented for weavers on a priority basis,” he said.

“This proves that my decision to quit as MLA has benefited the people of Munugode constituency,” Reddy said.

Venkat Reddy will take a call at the right time: Komatireddy Jr.

Keeping the kettle boiling over what his brother, Nalgonda MP Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, planned to do, former Munugode MLA Komatireddy Rajgopal Reddy reiterated that his sibling will take the right political decision at the appropriate time.

Answering a question during a press conference here on Friday on whether his brother would continue in the Congress given the way he was being treated by its leaders, Rajgopal Reddy, who is set to join the BJP on August 21, said “I am confident that he will give it a lot of thought. I am also sure he will time his call to perfection.
