Yogi Adityanath, Arun Jaitley: BJP plans big poll show

The source said Mr Jaitley will be invited to attend one of the rallies in Bengaluru.

Bengaluru: In a strong bid to consolidate the Hindu vote ahead of the Assembly polls in 2018, state BJP leaders have unanimously decided to invite the party’s Hindutva mascots - Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister, Yogi Adityanath and union minister of state, Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti along with the likes of Union finance minister, Arun Jaitley and Union Home Minister, Rajnath Singh to woo voters in various places. The BJP leaders also decided to strategically launch a series of protests across the state to highlight incidents like Honnavar, where, a Hindu activist was found dead in a pool, which has resulted in communal skirmishes in Uttara Kannada district.

Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, after the BJP core committee meeting here, a senior leader disclosed that the party has authorised Union Parliamentary Affairs minister, H. N. Ananth Kumar to co-ordinate with these leaders and ensure their presence in one of the Praivartana rallies held in the state. "We have also zeroed in on Madhya Pradesh chief minister, Shivraj Singh Chavan and Rajasthan chief minister, Vasundhara Raje who will be invited to attend one of these rallies," the source added.

The source said Mr Jaitley will be invited to attend one of the rallies in Bengaluru, where his suave personality will be of use to woo educated youngsters in urban areas, while Mr Yogi Adityanath will be invited to attend a rally in Hubballi, which is considered communally sensitive. "Ms Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti will be invited to attend a rally in Yadgir," the source added.

National BJP general secretary Arun Singh will tour Karnataka for three days starting December 21. He will take part in the meetings of the district committees at Bengaluru, Davanagere, Chitradurga, Gadag and Dharwad. He will also attend booth committee and mandal committee meetings in some districts. He will take part in the executive committee meeting of the OBC Morcha on December 22.
