Dinesh Gundu Rao: No threat to congress

Defending the demolition drive launched by BBMP, he said the ruling party had not spared anyone during the drive.

Bengaluru: Ruling Congress leaders, including KPCC working president, Dinesh Gundu Rao, on Tuesday launched a blistering attack on BJP leader K.S. Eshwarappa for his decision to form Sangolli Rayanna Brigade to apparently wean away backward class votes from the Congress.

Speaking after observing the 75th anniversary of the Quit India movement at the KPCC office here, Mr Rao said, “It has become a fashion for BJP leaders to hijack our leaders like Sardar Vallabhai Patel and Babasaheb Ambedkar. Even when Gandhiji gave a clarion call for the Quit India movement, the RSS led by Golwalkar or the Hindu Mahasabha led by Veer Savarkar supported the Britishers against whom Gandhiji was leading a major struggle. Now, Mr Eshwarappa is trying to float Sangolli Rayanna Brigade, to wean away votes of the BCs. BJP leaders have not only lost their sense of morality but also their ethics.”

According to him, Mr Eshwarapa’s plan to woo BCs will not materialise as Dalits, minorities and backward classes are aware of the fact that the Congress has stood with them in times of crisis. Defending the demolition drive launched by BBMP, he said the ruling party had not spared anyone during the drive.
