Karnataka Congress consensus on 150 candidates

The Congress is also deliberating on seats it had lost by a huge margin in 2013. A consensus seems to be elusive on these seats.

Bengaluru: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah along with veteran Congress leader M. Mallikarjun Kharge, KPCC president Dr G. Parameshwar and KPCC working president, Dinesh Gundurao held the first round of meetings in New Delhi on Monday to arrive at a consensus on the party's first list of candidates.

Speaking to DC, a senior disclosed that the party had almost arrived at a consensus on 120 to 150 candidates and the first list likely to be released in two or three days. “Almost all sitting legislators except 10 or 15 who have ‘serious health issues’ are likely to miss the ticket but the party has assured them too that it is willing to accommodate their choice of candidates. These legislators may choose candidates from their own families,” the source explained. The Congress is also deliberating on seats it had lost by a huge margin in 2013.
