Minister Satyavathi Rathod slams Centre over Tribal University issue

Hyderabad: Tribal welfare minister Satyavathi Rathod strongly condemned the statement made by Centre in Parliament that the Telangana government had not submitted proposals for setting up Tribal University in Mulugu and nor identified land for the purpose.

Speaking to the media, Rathod said that the state government had identified 170 acres in Mulugu in 2017 for the Tribal University and submitted the same to Centre for approval through the union education ministry. “It's totally false on the part of the Centre to make a statement in Parliament now that it has not received any proposals. We strongly condemn this," she said.

Rathod reminded of the replies given by the Centre in the Lok Sabha in 2021 and 2022 when Congress MPs A. Revanth Reddy and N. Uttam Kumar Reddy had raised questions on the status of Tribal University promised in the AP Reorganisation Act, 2014.

"The Centre clearly replied that it had received proposals from the Telangana government in this regard. Now it says otherwise. This shows that BJP has hatched a conspiracy to deny Tribal University to Telangana," Rathod alleged.
