BJP will play crucial role in govt formation: Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan

Chennai: The BJP will fight the upcoming Assembly polls on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s development and corruption-free governance and the party would play a crucial role in forming the government, according to Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan, BJP president, has been was given a second term in office as state unit chief.

An ecstatic Dr Tamilisai, who arrived to a rousing reception by party members at the party’s state headquarters Kamalalayam on Sunday following the party high command’s Saturday announcement that she would continue as state president, said, her party would create an impact in this Assembly election.

“The BJP is growing in Tamil Nadu. We will make an impact in this Assembly poll and play a crucial role in forming the government,” she told reporters on Sunday.
Asked about the prospects of resurrecting the NDA in the state, she said the BJP was not in a hurry to finalise poll alliance.

“There’s still time (left). Our party high command will make an announcement in this regard. For the present we are concentrating on poll related work and gearing up our cadres for the elections,” she said.

Once this process was over, the party would nominate candidates for all the 234 constituencies.

Since the past three months, the saffron party has enrolled around three lakh members, which is a record for any party and this would be significant in the elections.

“Only the BJP government at the Centre is capable of solving the problems of TN and its people… to ensure the good work of Mr Modi percolates to Tamil Nadu, the party will strive in united manner for the victory,” the senior leader, who will be steering the saffron party in the Assembly polls, said.
