CHENNAI: A meeting of AIADMK MLAs and District Secretaries has been called for Monday, October 10, to discuss among other things the celebrations to be organized to commemorate the founding of the party on October 17.
Interim General Secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami would preside over the meeting, in the presence of party presidium chairman Tamilmagan Hussain, and discuss the arrangements to be made for the conduct of the general secretary elections after getting clearance from the Supreme Court.
Since the general secretary could be elected only by the primary members of the AIADMK, as per the constitution left behind by the founder M.G. Ramachandran, it would be an elaborate and laborious process to hold polling in the event of a contest for the general secretary’s post.
Monday’s meeting is expected to discuss such issues and come up with solutions to solve any problem that might arise in the conduct of the elections.
Meanwhile, Palaniswami met media persons at Edappadi in Salem district on Thursday and claimed that several leaders from the DMK were switching over to the AIADMK. He said that around 300 functionaries of the DMK and CPI had crossed over so far to the party.
He made it very clear that those who worked against the interest of the party had absolutely no chance of returning to the party fold....
