Tractor, road roller back to haunt TRS

The TRS requested the election commission to ban allotting these symbols in the future elections, but the plea was rejected.

Hyderabad: Election symbols are haunting the TRS government in the Huzurnagar Assembly byelection, where 28 candidates are in the fray. Of the 24 independent candidates contesting the poll, two have been allotted symbols of tractor and road roller. In the 2018 assembly elections, these two symbols had damaged the prospects of some TRS candidates.

A few TRS leaders said that the Huzur-nagar assembly seat was won by Congress candidate and TPCC president, N. Uttam Kumar Reddy, because of confusion created among the voters over election symbols. They said that they had complained to election commission that there was similarity in the tractor and TRS’ car symbol.

The TRS requested the election commission to ban allotting these symbols in the future elections, but the plea was rejected.
