YSRC predicts clean sweep in municipal elections too

Sajjala slammed TD chief N Chandrababu Naidu for releasing a manifesto for municipal polls and making false promises to cheat the public

VIJAYAWADA: YSR Congress has claimed that fulfilling of its election promises and implementing welfare schemes even amid Coronavirus crisis has made people trust the ruling party. That is the reason why it won gram panchayat polls hands down and will similarly win municipal elections too, asserted advisor to government (public affairs) Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy.

Speaking to media here on Wednesday, he expressed confidence that people will not believe in Telugu Desam's promise of reducing taxes in municipal corporations if it won the civic elections. He pointed out that TD has not even been able to field candidates from many wards in municipal corporations, although the State Election Commission has given one more chance to file nominations.

He termed as baseless TD’s allegations that the government is threatening opposition candidates from contesting the municipal polls. He maintained that elections have always proved that YSRC is the clear winner because it has people’s blessings.

Ramakrishna Reddy slammed TD chief N. Chandrababu Naidu for releasing a manifesto for municipal polls and making false promises to cheat the public. Taking a dig at the manifesto, the government advisor asked Naidu whether he had given 20 litres of drinking water for just Rs. 2 or a job to each family, which was promised in the 2014 TD municipal manifesto. He said YSRC will complain to the SEC about the opposition party cheating people by putting in its manifesto promises that are patently false.

Responding to TD’s allegations on increasing of property taxes after municipal polls, Ramakrishna Reddy said it is Chief Minister Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy who has raised the living standards of people through welfare. “Will anyone believe that taxes will be increased and people burden,” he asked. He maintained that “however many lies Chandrababu may utter about taxes, people will not believe him but elect YSRC.”
