Naidu tapped, trapped MLA Kotamreddy: Kakani

TIRUPATI: Agriculture minister Kakani Govardhan Reddy on Friday came down heavily on Nellore Rural MLA Kotamreddy Sridhar Reddy for making allegations of phone tapping against the state government.

Kakani instead charged that in reality, Telugu Desam chief Nara Chandrababu Naidu had tapped Kotamreddy’s phone and then trapped the Nellore Rural legislator into doing his bidding.

Addressing a media conference in Nellore city, the minister said the decision of Kotamreddy to join TD is politically suicidal. “His decision to change party is a personal matter. But it is not right to sling mud at YSRC before leaving. It is not phone tapping but man tapping. Kotamreddy has fallen into Chandrababu's trap,” Kakani said.

The minister in charge of Nellore asked the rebel MLA to recall the tough competition for seeking ticket from the Nellore Rural constituency. “Jagan Mohan Reddy confirmed the ticket for Sridhar despite suggestions to the contrary from others. At the time, Sridhar Reddy professed his loyalty to the YSRC chief. Now he is loyal to some others,” Kakani remarked.

He accused Nellore Rural MLA of making baseless phone-tapping allegations after TD chief Chandrababu Naidu confirmed his entry into Telugu Desam.

“If his allegations are true, why did he not bring the issue to the notice of the centre for action or approach the court for justice,” the minister asked. He maintained that YSRC would suffer no loss if one or odd leaders leave. “The party will get better leaders,” he asserted.
