THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: CPM general secretary Sitaram Yechury has confirmed that a complaint was received against Benoy Kodiyeri, son of CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan for not paying back loan taken from a Dubai based company. At a press conference in Delhi, Mr Yechury said the party had its own means and procedures to deal with such matters. “We will take appropriate action and it would be decided later,” he added. The general secretary said that as of now the party state secretariat had responded and rejected the charges.

Mr Yechury asked central committee members to disclose their assets. “Party members should not misuse their position for personal needs,” he said while indicating that the party had drawn serious lessons from the Binoy episode.Meanwhile, all eyes are now set on the press conference to be addressed by JAAS tourism LLC owner Hasan Ismaeel Abdulla Almarzooqui scheduled to be held in on February 5, on the allegations of financial fraud against Binoy Kodiyeri.

It may be recalled that in a complaint, Almarzooqui had sought Indian government’s assistance for registering a formal complaint to extradite Binoy Vinodini Balakrishnan who absconded from Dubai after allegedly cheating his company and his partner of Dirham 7,000,000 (Rs 13 crore). The contents of the complaint were flashed by a section of news channels recently. Mr Binoy had refuted the allegations saying that there was no case pending against him in Dubai and there was no travel ban. He even produced certificate from Dubai Police of good conduct and document from Court stating that no case is pending against him.
