Telangana CM plans Cabinet reshuffle; ministers put on notice

TRS sources claim Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao is upset over Eamcet paper leak.

Hyderabad: Upset over the Eamcet question paper leak, Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao is expected to reshuffle his Cabinet sooner or later, sending jitters to all ministers.

“The Chief Minister is upset with the Eamcet question paper leak, which exposed the chinks in government and drew criticism of thousands of students, parents and the opposition parties. It is a blot on the government. In fact, it is a police failure. How could police and its intelligence network failed to notice 200 odd people dealing with crores of rupees in one of the biggest scams in the state? If the police can’t get information about this, how would they prevent people from disrupting law and order in the city,” asked a TRS MLA.

According to highly placed sources in the ruling party, the Eamcet scam has put Deputy Chief Minister and education minister Kadiam Srihari and health minister Dr K. Laxma Reddy on notice. This incident has also put other ministers on a high alert.

Repeated warnings from the Chief Minister over the implementation of the Haritha Haram programme has also put the ministers on the edge and they are trying their best to get noticed.

Though the Chief Minister gets regular intelligence and other pro and anti-government feedback including land dealings, sand mafia and corruption, the sources said he was not alerted on the Eamcet scam.

“Ministers are on toes now. Some will have to go. The Chief Minister is cautious on taking any immediate action against Kadiam Srihari due to his seniority and his caste. There is no leader from that community of his stature,” said another TRS legislator.

In January last year, Mr Chandrasekhar Rao had sacked then health minister and Deputy CM T. Rajaiah over mishandling of swine flu and other complaints and inducted Kadiam Srihari, an MP, then, who belongs to same community.

Despite widespread speculation about a major reshuffle in his Cabinet, Mr Chandrasekhar Rao had surprised many by just reshuffling the portfolios. Among major changes was T Srinivas Yadav, who lost plum commercial taxes portfolio and got animal husbandry, which indicates he has been put on notice.
