Rajya Sabha member Bose questions High Court’s CRDA judgment

KAKINADA: Rajya Sabha member and YSRC leader Pilli Subhashchandra Bose has found fault with AP High Court with regard to its judgement on Amaravati being the capital.

The MP went on to cite a Supreme Court judgement, which states that “Right to Choose the Capital’’ lies only with the state government.

Speaking at a round table meeting on decentralisation here on Saturday, Bose pointed out that when Uttarakhand changed its state capital, Supreme Court had clearly ruled that it cannot interfere in the capital issue, as it is purely a decision of the government of the state concerned.

The Rajya Sabha member wondered that when the state government had repealed the three capitals bill, how the High Court could deliver its verdict on the capital.

The MP underlined that the upper court’s judgement should be followed by lower courts. In this context, he said that High Court must review its judgement on Amaravati as capital.

He made it clear that he is not criticising the judges, but he has a right to criticise or question its judgements.

Bose asked Telugu Desam and other parties to come forward with a plan for development of all areas in Andhra Pradesh.

Interestingly 52 organisations had participated in this debate.
