K Chandrasekhar Rao is dividing Telangana: JAC

As a result, people from all walks of life started agitation against the state government demanding a separate district.

Warangal: Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao is not bifurcating the district for ease of governance as he claims to be, but only wants to divide the state among his family members, allege Jangaon Zilla Sadhana Committee (JAC) members.

As the agitation for separate Jangaon district escalated on Friday, the JAC members said that Jangaon has been subjected to injustice throughout the new district formation exercise. Even though Jangaon district cropped up in the first list of probable districts, it was later removed and Mahbubabad was finalised as a new district.

As a result, people from all walks of life started agitation against the state government demanding a separate district.

The JAC leaders allege that Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao is opposed to the formation of Jangaon district because he wants Yadradri as a district.

“Chief Minister KCR and his daughter Kavitha have accumulated thousands of acres of land near Yadagirigutta and that is the reason they want to make it as a district.

His nephew, irrigation minister wants the reservoirs in Maddur, Bachannapet and Cherial and so they are being included in Siddipet district. His son is getting Sircilla and now even Nirmal got approval as district,” said M. Raju of the JAC.

He also pointed out that while the state government has declared that they would create districts within a radius of 60-70 km between two, it is not being followed in the case of Sircilla, Shamshabad, Yadadri or Jagtial.

“The distance between proposed Sircilla and Siddipet districts is 38 km, Sircilla and Karimnagar is 41 km, Shamshabad and Hyderabad is 24 km, Bhongir (Yadadri) and Hyderabad is 48 km, Jagtial - Karimnagar is 49 km.

If Chief Minister KCR is serious about creating small districts for ease of governance, Jangaon would have found place among the new districts.

Former TPCC president Ponnala Lakshmaiah asked why KCR who declared that new districts would be formed only with consent of people is ignoring Jangaon.

“The Chief Minister himself once said Jangaon has all the natural resources and it is fit to be district headquarters. He is now failing to keep his promise,” he said.
