T N Prathapan, Padmaja Venugopal on Congress list

Minister Ramesh Chennithala said that the party had reached an understanding on 75 per cent of seats.

Thiruvananthapuram: The Congress central election committee, which failed to end the stalemate over five contentious seats on Friday, finalised the candidates in 70 seats, including Thrissur from where Padmaja Venugopal will contest.

Mr T.N. Pratapan, who had earlier opted out, will be fielded from Kaipamangalam instead of from Kodungalloor. KPCC president V.M. Sudheeran included the name of A.B. Sabu also in Tripunithura as many leaders felt that GCDA chairman N. Venugopal stood no chance of victory.

The panels for the contentious seats are as follows: Thrikkakara- Benny Behanan, P.T. Thomas; Tripunithura – K. Babu, N. Venugopal, A.B. Sabu; Kochi- Dominic Presentation, Lali Vincent, Tony Chammany; Konni- Adoor Prakash, P. Mohanraj; Irikkur- K. C. Joseph, Sajeev Joseph, Sony Sebastian; Kannur-A.P. Abdullakutty, Satheeshan Pacheni.

The seats which were finalised on Friday included Ponnani – P.T. Ajaya Mohan, Nilamboor- Arayadan Showkat, Thavanoor- Ifthikavarudeen, Kaipamangalam- T.N. Pratapan, Kayamkulam- M. Liju, Perumbavoor- Eldhose Kunnapally, Angamaly- Roji John,Thrissur- Padmaja Venugopal, Vaikom- Saneesh Kumar, Kovalam-M Vincent, Kunnamangalam-T. Sidhique, Uduma-K. Sudhakaran, Koyilandi-N. Subramanium, Beypore-Adam, Mavelikara- Baiju Kalasala, Thrikaripur-K.P. Kunhikannan, Udumbanchola- Senapathi Venu, Nenmara- A.V. Gopinath, Nadapuram- Praveen, Cherthalai-S. Sarath, Peravoor- Sunny Joseph, Dharmadam- M.C. Sreeja.

Chennithala said that the party had reached an understanding on 75 per cent of seats. The rest have ben submitted as a panel to the central election committee.
