BA Mohiuddin Bava: Not backing BM Farookh

It would not be wrong, if I recall here that it was Mr Fernandes who brought me and our family into politics, says BA Mohiuddin Bava.

Bengaluru: Upset with media reports pitting him against veteran Congress leaders, Oscar Fernandes and Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, first-time legislator B. A. Mohiuddin Bava on Tuesday clarified that he would never be a competitor to either Mr Fernandes or engage in a tussle with Mr Siddaramaiah.

He told the media here: “My younger brother, B. M. Farookh, is an independent man and he too has aspirations, and for which he has chosen to the join JD (S) and contest Rajya Sabha polls. I have no role whatsoever in his plans or support his ambitions.”

According to him, a section of the media was trying to portray this simple case of political ambition of a younger brother's as though he was planning to emerge bigger when compared with Mr Fernandes.

"It would not be wrong, if I recall here that it was Mr Fernandes who brought me and our family into politics. We have been closely associated with the Congress for several decades. I have never aspired to grow bigger than my political guru, Mr Fernandes,” he added.
