Heritage walk to showcase murals of Mankavu palace

The palace complex is home to some exquisite old murals by anonymous master painters.

KOZHIKODE: For the first time in Kozhikode, a heritage walk has been organised at the Mankavu palace rich with mural paintings by the unknown on April 1. Attakatha writer Radha Madhavan would explain the history in the one-day workshop from 10.30am to 1pm to the participants, said the organisers. The palace complex is home to some exquisite old murals by anonymous master painters. During the one-day workshop, the participants would be able to get a glimpse of the paintings like Dakshinamurti, Hanuman-Lankalakshmi, with prior appointment or permission, they informed.

The participants have to assemble at Manavedan auditorium close to the Thrissala Bhagavati temple. Ms Radha Madhavan will explain the story/history behind famous murals like Krishnageethi, Bhagavathi, Panchakanya, Tyagaraja’s Nauka Charitam, Chakyar’s Hanumad -Ravana-Samvad painted by Sasi Edavarad and students between 2009-2017 curated by Dhyana Sankalpam.
