Kanchi seer Jayendra Saraswathi admitted to hospital, condition stable

He complained of drowsiness and breathing problems before he was taken to the hospital.

Vijaywada: The 69th Seer of Kanchi Kamakoti Peetham, Jayendra Saraswathi, was admitted into Andhra Hospital in Vijayawada on Tuesday morning, after a seizure.

He was brought to hospital in an almost unconscious state. Though there were reports earlier that there was a spurt in his blood pressure, but the hospital authorities said he was merely unconscious.

He complained of drowsiness and breathing problems before he was taken to the hospital, a close associate of the pontiff said.

Sharing details related to his health condition, Andhra Hospital Managing Director Dr P V Ramana Murthy said that the seer has sodium levels upto 115, which is a sign of improvement in his health condition. “The sodium levels should be above 135 in normal conditions, and it will take another 48 hours to restore the normalcy levels of sodium,”Dr Ramana Murthy said.

“At this juncture, we can’t disturb the seer,” he said and added that Jayendra Saraswathi is off-ventilator, and responding to the treatment.

As soon as he was brought in, he was put on ventilator, and was kept under observation, Dr Ramana Murthy said. Several followers gathered at the hospital to wish him a speedy recovery.

The police have cordoned off the area. Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu enquired about his health and directed the district administration to take care of the Seer’s health.
