KOZHIKODE: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan inaugurated ‘Sahya’ the first multi-tenanted IT building of Cyberpark here on Monday, vowing to make it a free WiFi hotspot and Kozhikode the IT capital of Malabar. Sahya is a 2,88,000sq.ft G+4 storeyed IT building built on a 5-acre Special Economic Zone (SEZ) at the cost of Rs 72 crore. “Today is a very auspicious day for Malabar, paving a new way for IT growth in the region," he said. “The new building will provide employment to over 2,500 IT professionals and generate over 7,500 indirect jobs. The government had promised to create one-crore sq. ft. IT space in five years, and in the first year itself we have delivered Sahya in Kozhikode and Jyothirmaya in Infopark, Kochi.”

Its ground floor has six units ready to occupy ranging from 25 seats to 71 seats. The admin block is hosting four IT companies of which Aufait Technologies have already taken space in the new building. The other charter companies are Vinam IT and Mini Minimalister. The first floor has been developed as the Smart Business Centre in a plug-and-play ambience with 19 units ranging from 12 seats to 42 seats. The top three floors will be leased out as warm shell spaces.

“One of Kerala’s major thrust areas is promoting Kozhikode as the next IT destination like it has been successful with Technopark and Infopark. For us, the priority is to make this first IT building fully occupational," said IT Parks CEO Hrishikesh Nair. “We are receiving a lot of enquiries from companies in the region and also companies based especially in the GCC countries for space here. The basic facilities like robust infrastructure, excellent digital connectivity, in-house power distribution, 100% power back up with an eco-friendly environment is all in place for companies to start operations.”
