Ramulori Pelli to again be a low-key affair in Bhadrachalam

Bhadrachalam temple was brought under the endowments department in 1969

BHADRACHALAM: The celestial wedding – Ramulori Kalyanam — will be a low-key affair for the second consecutive year here. The devotees, who bought tickets for the kalyanam, will get the refund directly into their bank accounts.

Rama Navami will again be in the presence of priests and temple staff. Though the decision taken by the state government in view of a fear of a second wave of Covid-19, is painful to the devotees, there is no option for the temple authorities.

Bhadrachalam was brought under the endowments department in 1969 and Rama Navami has been held ever since in the open place. Prior to that, Ramulori Kalyanam used to be performed under the supervision of Vamsha Paramparya (hierarchy) Dharma Karthala Mandali members.

A stadium was built in 1987 during N.T. Rama Rao’s regime in the open place where the wedding is being performed. The stadium was christened as Mithila. Srirama Pattabhishekam was performed in the same year.

Last year, the divine wedding was performed inside the temple premises where earlier Nitya Kalayanam used to be performed.

The authorities decided to perform the divine wedding at the same place on April 21. Endowments minister A. Indrakaran Reddy and transport minister Puvvada Ajay Kumar will participate in the celestial wedding, which will only be graced by Vedic pandits, priests, temple and security staff.

Meanwhile, all other rituals like adoring Lord Rama and Goddess Sita with jewellery, Talambralu, Vyakhyanam and offering of Mutyala Talambralu on behalf of the state government will be complied with in continuation of traditions.
