Madras HC allows Sarath, Radha Ravi to challenge their expulsion

The Madras high court has permitted actors Sarath Kumar and Radha Ravi, former president and general secretary of South Indian Artistes Association (SIAA) to file fresh applications, challenging their removal from the Association.
Originally, actors Nasser and Vishal were elected as president and general secretary of the association in the election held on October 18, 2015.

Thereafter, the association passed a resolution temporarily suspending Sarath Kumar and Radha Ravi, alleging that they had committed irregularities in the functioning of the association during their tenure as president and general secretary. Challenging their temporary suspension, the two actors filed applications arising out of suits in the Madras high court.

When these applications came up for hearing before Justice M.M. Sundresh on Monday, counsel for SIAA, informed the court that there was a fresh development and in the general body meeting held on Sunday, the two actors were permanently removed from the rolls. Therefore, these applications, challenging their temporary suspension, will not hold good, he added.

Recording the same, the judge granted permission to Sarath Kumar and Radha Ravi to file fresh applications, challenging their permanent removal.
