Prisons wing to create 2,000 jobs

The department would introduce an industrial training institute inside the prison.

Hyderabad: The prisons’ department has announced that it would create 2,000 private jobs in two years and would provide opportunities to released inmates. The department, which is running petrol bunks at seven places, is planning to introduce 200 more petrol bunks in the coming two years and the target for the next six months is about 50 petrol bunks. Prisons Director General V.K. Singh said each petrol bunk would have 10 workers. “We are providing jobs to inmates in petrol bunks and they are being paid at Rs 12,000 per month in GHMC limits and in Warangal City. In other areas, they get a salary of Rs 9,000,” he said.

The department would introduce an industrial training institute inside the prison. “We have sent proposals to the government and are waiting for a reply. We have skilled carpenters, welders and many other professionals. If we train them through the ITI, it will be helpful to them in their life,” Mr V.K. Singh said.
