Electric shock kills 2 farmers in Mahbubnagar

Using a long bamboo pole, they tried to hang a cable on the main supply line.

Hyderabad: Two farmers were electrocuted in Mahbubnagar on Tuesday. The incident ocurred when the farmers, Karranna and his cousin Eeranna, were trying to operate an electric motor pump in their fields. Police said B. Karranna and B. Eeranna, owned around two acres of land in Gangimandoddi village in Ghattu mandal of Mahbubnagar district. On Tuesday morning they went to the field on the village’s outskirts.

But as the single phase line from the transformer supplying electricity to their field had tripped there was no supply. Using a long bamboo pole, they tried to hang a cable on the main supply line. “During this the wire got cut and fell on them and they suffered a shock and died on the spot,” Ghattu SI Rambabu said. Police registered a case of suspicious death and the bodies are handed over to the family after post-mortem. Karrenna is survived by his wife and a son and Eeranna is survived by his wife and two kids.
