Thrissur: The National Service Scheme (NSS) unit of GHSS Nandikara conducted an awareness drive with the aim of spreading the message of blood donation to the masses the other day. To underline the message, the unit took out a cycle rally from Nandikara to Amballur and awareness speeches were delivered at junctions in Nandikara, Amballur and Puthukkad centres by its volunteers.
The speeches emphasised various health benefits from donating blood including good health, reduced risk of cancer and hemochromatosis. Blood donation also helps in reducing the risk of damage to liver and pancreas. Donating blood could help in improving cardiovascular health and reducing obesity, they said.
