Consumerfed scam in Vigilance Court

The court said the petition was not maintainable and there was no proof of forgery.

Thrissur: The Vigilance Court here on Saturday dismissed a petition by former co-operation minister C.N. Balakrishnan’s close aide P.A. Shekaran demanding a probe against activist George Vattukulam for allegedly forging a document and presenting it in court as proof of graft in Consumerfed. Mr Vattukulam had earlier filed a complaint alleging corruption in Consumerfed while Balakrishnan was the minister during the UDF regime.

The court said the petition was not maintainable and there was no proof of forgery. Mr Vattukulam had submitted nearly 800 pages of documents about the inquiry into allegations of corruption in Consumer fed and a letter from the minister’s former aide, P. A. Shekaran, linking C.N. to the corrupt deals along with his petition. Vattukulam has mentioned in his petition that Consumerfed lost Rs 28.81 crore between 2010-15 on this account.
