KSRTC bus collides with lorry, 5 killed

The accident occurred around 6.40 am near Bannikuppe in Hunsur taluk.

Mysuru: Five people died and six others were injured when a KSRTC bus collided with a lorry in Bilikere police limits in Hunsur taluk, here on Wednesday morning.

The accident occurred around 6.40 am near Bannikuppe in Hunsur taluk. The bus was heading from Virajpet to Bengaluru, while the lorry was going from Anantapur in Andhra to Hunsur.

The deceased have been identified as Sadashiva (39), the driver of KSRTC bus and a native of Gudaginahalli in KR Pet taluk, Devraju (31), the bus conductor and a native of Harihara in Davangere district, Anju, the lorry driver, and Ram Ji, lorry cleaner. A 60-year-old unidentified male bus passenger is also among the dead.

The injured are S.J. Mukunda, 43, from Gundlupet, William Sadananda, Hunsur town, Thangappa, 66, and Aiyappa, 74, both from T. Shettigeri, Virajpet taluk, Santoshkumar, 36, Manager at KSRTC Kuvempunagar depot in Mysuru, Malaganakere, Periyapatna taluk, Ramaswamy, 58, KSRTC depot, Hirikyathanahalli, Hunsur taluk.

The injured were admitted to K.R. and Apollo Hospitals and are out of danger. The bodies were handed over to the relatives after the postmortem.
