Secunderabad Cantonment Board gets free wi-fi, solar unit

SCB office became the first cantonment in the country to have a solar power plant atop its structure.

Hyderabad: The Secunderabad Cantonment Board has installed free Wi-Fi at four zones as part of the ‘Smart Cantonment’ at across its offices in Secunderabad, Paradise Circle, Jubilee bus stop and the Bolaram Cantonment Hospital.

Also on Tuesday, the SCB office became the first cantonment in the country to have a solar power plant atop its structure. The plant, which was inaugurated on Tuesday, will generate 60 KW current everyday and can power the entire office.
The SCB will replace 13,000 streetlights to LED bulbs.

“We want to make SCB a Smart Cantonment. We have introduced online payment of bills, set up solar panels and waste segregation units. Now, we want to set up a network of surveillance cameras,” said the SCB chief executive
officer Sujatha Gupta.
