Upbeat K Chandrasekhar Rao to celebrate rain bounty

These celebrations will be held as part of Bathukamma and Dasara festivals in October.

Hyderabad: The government is upbeat over all irrigation projects reaching full level and Mission Kakatiya yielding good results with 95 per cent of total 46,000 tanks getting filled.

The government is planning grand celebrations at project sites and tanks after the rains recede to celebrate the end of two years of drought and thank the rain gods. These celebrations will be held as part of Bathukamma and Dasara festivals in October.

Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao is expected to launch the celebrations by visiting Nizamsagar in a day or two, which was empty for years and was filled within two days.

The ministers in districts will launch the celebrations while local MLAs and other public representatives will celebrate near tanks in their respective constituencies.

Mr Rao told ministers and officials, “This is for the first time that Telangana state is witnessing a drought-free year. With present levels in projects and tanks, there will be no drought in Telangana for two more years, even if monsoon fails. This is a good sign.”
