Interpol PhotoDNA project can identify child porn sites

Interpol has integrated the PhotoDNA technology into its Child Sexual Exploitation database.

Hyderabad: Project PhotoDNA of Interpol and US intelligence agencies with Microsoft have been helping to identify child pornography sites and individuals uploading and downloading images and content from these sites. A cyber security expert said, “US is sending information to various central and State agencies through the Interpol. With this information, the local police is able to track down the IP address.”

Interpol has integrated the PhotoDNA technology into its Child Sexual Exploitation database. The cyber security expert told this newspaper, “The PhotoDNA calculates the distinct characteristics of a digital image, creating a unique signature, also known as a ‘hash’. This can then be compared with the hashes of other images to efficiently and reliably find matching signatures.”
