Bengaluru: IAS aspirant ends life

The incident came to light when her husband returned from work around 9 pm.

BENGALURU: A 28-year-old MCA post graduate and an IAS aspirant ended her life, allegedly due to depression, in Hennur police station limits on Thursday night. The deceased has been identified as Selvi, a resident of Bank Avenue Road in Hennur. Hailing from Tamil Nadu, Selvi was living with her husband Muthuraj, an employee with a private mobile service provider company, and a five-and-half-years old son, Abhishek.

Police said that Selvi had completed MCA last year and was preparing for IAS exams. On Thursday evening, she left her son in a neighbouring house and returned home. The incident came to light when her husband returned from work around 9 pm.

“Her parents have made a statement that there was no problem between the couple and Muthuraj took good care of their daughter. She was under depression from the last few months and was availing treatment for the same. Even they do not know the reason for the suicide. It is suspected that depression led her to take the extreme step,” the police said. Hennur police have registered an unnatural death case.
