Mangaluru: Big plans for Aadhaar payment

Payment will be made through the bank account which is linked with Aadhaar.

Mangaluru: Aiming to provide easy digital payment modes to customers, the Central government has decided to launch Aadhaar Enabled Payment System (AEPS) on a big scale.

Declaring this at the 'DigiDhanMela,' in Mangaluru on Wednesday, Minister for IT and Law and Justice Ravishankar Prasad said that people would shortly be able to make payments using their fingerprints. "About four to five banks have already started this system and others are also joining in. We will popularise this on a big scale. A person who goes to the shop or commercial outlet can make payment to the trader using his fingerprint. A small biometric reader attached to the mobile phone of the trader will read the fingerprint of the customer. Payment will be made through the bank account which is linked with Aadhaar," Mr Prasad said. He defined the Digital payment system as an honest payment system.
