Cops pulled up for beating Central government employee in Anantpur

The SHRC also directed the Anantapur SP to submit a report on the issue.

Anantapur: The State Human Rights Commission (SHRC) rapped the Anantapur police, comparing it to Rayalaseema factionists for thrashing Central government employee Mr Madhava Reddy at the SBI main branch here on November 13.

The Commission also questioned Three Town inspector Gorantla Madhav, and two Town sub-inspectors and constables whether they were ready to face same punishment that they had meted out to the official.

Following senior advocate Balaji Vadera’s petition, the SHRC summoned Three Town inspector Mr Madhav, Two Town sub-inspectors Mr Janardhan and Mr Kranthi Kumar along with five constables, based on social media clips showing the cops thrashing Mr Madhav Reddy on allegations that he had slapped a sub-inspector.

The SHRC also directed the Anantapur SP to submit a report on the issue.
On Thursday, Inspector Madhav and others appeared before the SHRC at Hyderabad. The Anantapur DSP submitted report on behalf of the SP. The Commission found the incident to be terrorising the public.
