Thrissur Corporation takes over General Hospital

The mayor said there would be more convenience in administration, and the civic body was planning a complete makeover.

Thrissur: As a part of the state government’s new policy to hand over general hospitals to civic bodies, Thrissur Corporation took over the General Hospital here on Saturday from health and family welfare department. Mayor Ajitha Jayarajan received the documents from farm minister V. S. Sunil Kumar, who is also the local legislator, at a function at the hospital. The mayor said there would be more convenience in administration, and the civic body was planning a complete makeover.

“The X-ray, pharmacy and lab services will soon be available 24 hours a day. We will also start a Neethi medical store functioning round the clock,” she said. The civic body also plans a canteen for patients, modernisation of casualty wing and posting of permanent doctors to attend emergency cases, filling up of all necessary posts lying vacant, setting up of departments for neurology, urology and cardiology along with a cancer ward with modern facilities.
