KOZHIKODE: Government Industrial Training Institute (ITI) at Kuruvangad in Koyilandy is all set to be scaled to international standards with nine others. The state government envisaged the project to make students ready for the global job market. Koyilandy MLA K. Dasan said the main thrust was on enhancing infrastructure facilities. "A new administrative block, digital classrooms, hostel, staff quarters, library and the canteen facility would come up as a part of it," he said. Currently, construction of the new block comprising four classrooms and an auditorium is going on using Rs 30 lakh from the MLA fund.

A master plan is in the making with the help of Uralungal Labour Contract Cooperative Society. "The plan would be submitted to the government for approval. We are envisioning a green campus on the 3.5 acres of land," he said. Some 450 students are studying under ten trades at the ITI set up in 1986 and shifted to Kuruvangad 11 years back. To oversee the construction, a team headed by the MLA visited the campus on Saturday. Principal V. Sindhu apprised them of its requirements.
