Farms to get 24x7 power: Pocharam Srinivas Reddy

Over Rs 91,500 crore will be spent for uninterrupted power supply, the minister added.

NIZAMABAD: Agriculture minister Pocharam Srinivas Reddy on Thursday said that power would be supplied for nine hours in the daytime for agriculture from April onwards. The state government plans to provide 24-hour free power to agriculture by 2018, he said. Over Rs 91,500 crore will be spent for uninterrupted power supply, the minister added.

Mr Srinivas Reddy took part in various developmental programmes in Varni mandal on Thursday where he said works relating to 10,000 water tanks were sanctioned in Mission Kakatiya-II and they will be completed by June.

In the first phase of Mission Kakatiya, works of 9,600 water tanks were taken up with Rs 2,700 crore and works of 7,000 tanks have been completed, the minister said.
