Kozhikode: Baby Bazaar carol group distributes food kits to 300 needy people

Coupons were distributed to the eligible families prior to the distribution.

Kozhikode: The Baby Bazaar carol committee made a change this Christmas in Kozhikode. Instead of merely singing Christmas carols, they distributed food kits to 300 needy people, who had been suffering due to the crisis in the public distribution system. The selected people included families from coastal areas, who found it hard to cope with the delay in the distribution system.

The selected families were presented with bags, each carrying 3kg of rice. The distribution of the rice kits were made in the morning and carol singing was held in the evening at Palayam. The committee has been celebrating Christmas for almost 30 years and this year, they decided to do something different, in reaching out to the needy.

Coupons were distributed to the eligible families prior to the distribution. The distribution was inaugurated near Moideen Palli road by committee chief patron C.E. Chakkunny. They also decorated the streets of Palayam with stars and lights and a special carol singing was held in the evening. Cakes were distributed in all the shops in Baby Bazaar, said committee president T.L. Johnson.
