Kerala Road State Transport Corporation to ply special service to Aluva temple

The festival will begin on January 11 at 4 pm with the traditional procession from the family temple of Akavoor Mana.

KOCHI: The Kerala Road State Transport Corporation will operate special services to Thiruvairanikkulam Mahadeva Temple near Aluva during the Nadathurappu Festival (Temple Opening) this year. The 12-day festival is scheduled from January 11-22. Services will be operated from different parts of the state as the Sre Parvati Temple at Thiruvairanikkulam Temple is opened only for 12 days in a year.

A large of number devotees from different parts of the state and other parts of the country are expected to converge at the temple town during the festival days. The festival will begin on January 11 at 4 pm with the traditional procession from the family temple of Akavoor Mana. The devotees interested in taking part in the procession with the ‘Thalam’ would have to reach the Mana before 4 pm, said PG Sudhakaran, secretary of the Temple Trust.

The arrangements for the successful conduct of the festival were in full swing with the support and cooperation of the district administration and the representatives of the people in the area, he said. A meeting chaired by Aluva MLA Anwar Sadath was attended by the district collector K. Muhammed Y. Safeerulla and other officials who reviewed the arrangements and facilities for the festival.

K.S. Sudarshan, DySP of Perumbavoor, said 300 police personnel would be on duty during the festival days. Health and Civil Supplies officers said that the quality of food in the temporary hotels and other shops would be ensured. The meeting has assigned the Major Irrigation department to clean up the bath-ghats near the temple.
