Partymen throng temples for Tamil Nadu CM

The party ward secretaries will start their day with poojas at Vinayaga temples.

Chennai: Vinayaga temples, particularly the Arasamarathadi Pillaiyars are the most sought after deity in Chennai since Friday morning. AIADMK officer-bearers, state ministers and councillors in Chennai are offering special prayers to deities praying for speedy recovery of their party supremo and chief minister J. Jayalalithaa hospitalized, last night.

As the news of Ms. Jayalalithaa being hospitalised went viral, the ranks and files in the party started assembling at Apollo main hospital located in Thousand Lights, after spending time with their counterparts, the party functionaries drove to prominent temples. Kaalikambal temple in Broadway, Triplicane Parthasarathy Temple, Mylai Kapaleeswarar Temple, Thirvottriyur Vadivudai Amman temple and Nanganallur Anjaneyar temple witnessed early morning prayers with portrait of Jayalalithaa, chanting slogans for the speedy recovery of the chief minister.

“The party high command has instructed to conduct prayers for Amma's health and as many as 104 temples in Kancheepuram district have been roped in for the special poojas. After morning abhishegams, the special pooja's will start and continue till evening. In case of big temples, special yagams will be performed during the evenings,” said Kancheepuram east district secretary Chitlapakkam Rajendiran.

The party ward secretaries will start their day with poojas at Vinayaga temples. Today we focused on Amman temples as it was Friday and tomorrow the prayers will continue at Perumal kovils, Rajendran added.

“We are in discussions with astrologers and priests. Based on an astrologers suggestion prayers for Arasamarathadi Pillayar with turmeric, honey and milk is conducted at Velliswarankoil in Maylapore,” said former MLA Ku. Seenivasan.
This prayer will bring in good health for Amma and strengthen the guru, the most benefic planet in Astrology related with health and ailments of a person, he said.
