Admitted to hospital, Jayalalithaa recovers well

She was admitted to Apollo Hospitals on Greams Road in the heart of Chennai on Thursday after she complained of fever and dehydration.

Chennai: Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa, who was admitted to a private hospital here late on Thursday night, was doing fine on Friday as doctors attending on her said she was taking “normal diet”. Ms Jayalalithaa, 68, was admitted to Apollo Hospitals on Greams Road in the heart of Chennai on Thursday after she complained of fever and dehydration.

“The Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu was admitted last night in Apollo Hospitals, Chennai for fever and dehydration. Madam has no fever now and is taking a normal diet. The Chief Minister is under observation,” Subbiah Viswanathan, Chief Operating Officer, Apollo Hospitals, said in a statement, circulated by the state information department.

The Chief Minister’s health has been stable since she was admitted to the hospital, Apollo Hospitals said.

Jaya receives get well message from leaders

Get well messages poured from all quarters including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and opposition leaders including DMK chief M. Karunanidhi and Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah for Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa who is getting treatment in the Apollo Hospital here.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi sent a bouquet of flowers wishing her a speedy.
Governor Vidyasagar Rao too sent a bouquet of flowers and letter. In an elaborate message, he said, “It is worrying to learn that you are indisposed and hospitalised due to fever. People’s prayers and God’s blessings are always with you. I pray to God to bring you back in good health enabling you to continue your distinguished service to the people”. The Chief Minister thanked the Prime Minister and Governor for their messages.

DMK chief M. Karunanidhi, in his Twitter message, said “Though she differed with her at the policy level, I wish she recovers rapidly and continues her works”.
Later, when media persons raised a question over the Chief Minister's health. Similar message came from Leader of Opposition M.K. Stalin, who issued it as a statement.

MDMK general secretary Vaiko said he felt very concerned when he heard about the news of Jayalalithaa’s ill health and said, “I pray to mother nature for her full recovery”. PMK founder S. Ramadoss, DMDK leader Vijayakanth, TMC leader G.K. Vasan and CPI state secretary R. Mutharasan also wished a speedy recovery.
