Hyderabad: Telugu poet and writer Devi Priya wins Sahitya Akademi Award 2017

Devi Priya, who hails from Tadikonda, is known as the father of the Telugu poetic cartoon strip.
Popular Telugu writer Venna Vallabha Rao bagged the Sahitya Akademi award for translation for his Viramam Erugani Payanam.
Hyderabad: Renowned Telugu poet and writer Devi Priya bagged the Sahitya Akademi Award 2017, for his book Gaali Rangu. Devi Priya is a noted cartoonist and is known for his socially-conscious contributions.
Devi Priya, who hails from Tadikonda, is known as the father of the Telugu poetic cartoon strip. Some of his works include Amma Chettu (Mother tree), Neeti Putta (the watery pit), Chepa Chiluka (Fish parrot), Tuphanu Tummeda (Stormy Petrel), Gareebu Geetaalu (Poor man’s songs), Samajananda Svaami.
Popular Telugu writer Venna Vallabha Rao bagged the Sahitya Akademi award for translation for his Viramam Erugani Payanam. These awards will be presented in February next year.
